Hi everyone!

I am rather new to this page but I am in desperate need of answers and help on this rather strange skin problem I'm having on my pumpkin.

The best way I can describe it is that it looks like it's rotting so it sort of pitted and is bumpy and slightly white, but it is not soft. The patch grew substantially from a pea to a courgette size in less than a day. It has formed on the top most part of the pumpkin.

We have had quite a hot, sunny and humid few days here in the UK, but I have kept a thick pillow case over the top to provent it from sun burning. Could this pillow case not be thick enough?

Any suggestions would help greatly, I wish I could attach a photograph. Thank you!!

It does sound like sunscald, but if you have a cover on it. it's not that.

It doesn't sound good especially if it is growing so fast. I had to look up courgette. (that is not a word we use in the U.S.) LOL.

Maybe cantalouping? Kind of looks like little netting.

Thank you for replying so quickly, it doesn't seem to have spread so much today but may have got deeper...

It isn't too similar to either of the photos but that could be because the skin is much different. It's not quite as solid white as the pictures, more has yellow bumps in the sunken patch. It may be softening a little but has quite a plasticy feel and sound to it. I'm trying to keep it open to air (overcast day anyway) in hope that will slow the problem at least.

PS: sorry about the courgette comment LOL
