BigPumpkins.com Supports RSS

BigPumpkins.com is now offering RSS feeds for various sections of the website. Just look for the little orange "RSS" buttons.

An RSS feed is a special web page that can be interpreted by a program on your computer that will let you know when there is new content on the site. This program is commonly referred to as an aggregator. By using an aggregator, you can essentially subscribe to the content on the site that you care about. For example, you could subscribe to the individual grower diaries that you would like to watch. The aggregator will poll the website and get an updated feed periodically throughout the day. It can then alert you when there has been new content posted.

There are many free RSS aggregators out there for you to use for both Windows and Macintosh computers. There are even online aggregators that you can access via your web browser. Personally, we use RSS Bandit. It requires the Microsoft .NET Framework to be installed (which you can get from Windows Update). For a listing of other RSS aggregators, do a Google search or view this listing at Wikipedia.

To learn more about RSS, again Wikipedia is a great resource.

Feel free to comment on this new feature on this RSS message board post.
