From what i have read ,good compost tes has nitrogen fixing bacteria in it .
Would putting some of the powder product you can buy make you a liquid batch of this product or could you add it when you are making compost tea ?
Any opinions on this would be appreciated.

All the organisms you need should be present in good compost. Good compost is really the key though. If you wanted to add some specific N-fixers to your soil I think it would be much better to do so as a separate application. This would reduce the chances of them being eaten or out-competed for food resources within your tea brew as well.

Thanks for answering. Could you use the powdered version of this nitrogen fixing product to brew your own liquid version or are there parts of these products that would not multiple during the brewing process?

Are you talking about Azos or the product from Extreme Gardening? (or similar products)

You may be able to make a "tea" out of it to increase the quantities of bacteria prior to applying. You would need to figure out an appropriate food source that these microbes like and then add that to the brewer along with the powdered product. Another advantage if this did work would be that you would have active vs dormant organisms.

I just haven't looked into it myself, as I find that a well made ACT should supply everything along with the advantage of having greater diversity and NUTRIENT CYCLING already occurring in the tea. This is where I think ACT shines vs a commercial inoculant of limited species.

BUT if you have a need of a specific species it could probably be cultured and grown in this manner.

FYI, not mycorrhizal fungi though....

I've added Azos to my tea but honestly can't see any difference. I'd like to source a cheaper nitrogen fixing powder if it is out there.
