How long does a flower need the lobes after it's pollinated? In other words, how long does it take the pollen to grow tubes down into the baby pumpkin, so the lobes are no longer needed?

I've been looking for this data too Brigette. Judging from field observation, my guess is 48 hours but I have no proof.

I have broken of the blossom from 2 pumpkins around beach ball size. Both stopped growing. Not sure if there was a connection there or just coincidence...?
