I know it seems impossible to have NO earthworms but i have not seen any. Is it possible that the former owners killed all of them? I have been here 2.5 years and put lots of o m in the soil, still no worms.
Can i buy some somewhere, i see lots of adds for redworms, but i want regular earthworms.
any ideas?

Gary,
Heat sends all earthworms deep into the soil. If you've been adding organic materials then maybe the worms are there but burrowed deep to escape the San Jose summer? Do you see worms in the spring & fall?

Steve, no I don't see any at any time, really weird, used to have lots at my last house and the one before that. you know when it rains a lot of times they will come up out of the ground and onto the driveway or what ever, nothing here.

How do the soil tests look, is it possible something is tilted which the worms do not prefer? Salts?
