In my patch 7.2 would be fine . Most fertilizers and amendments such as peat moss lower your ph. Sometimes growers add lime products to add calcium and some of those could raise your ph. Ph levels can vary widely throughout the season so test ph levels at a couple of different times during the season if you're worried or until you get a good feel for the soil.

Don't use any type of shells for calcium.

Sulfur will give you a quick drop in pH. An application rate must be determined by your overall sample results and patch size.

Roger,
7.2 is no problem. Lets leave it alone. Our CT soils will acidify themselves especially if there is decaying organic material.
