The GPC is proud to announce some exciting news:
Dick Wallace has retired from the GPC Committee as of the end of 2007 when his term expired. We thank him for his years of amazing service, and fear the pumpkins to come now that he will have more free time, ha ha.
To replace his seat, we have chosen Heino Helbock of Austria. Heino will be helping us out with an expanding number of sites and growers from Europe, and I am sure he will be a great help to the GPC needs of growers in that area of the world.

Thank you Dick for all that you've done for the GPC & in particular for ALL of your contributions to the betterment of the Giant Pumpkin world. Many folks don't realize just how many times the name "Wallace" has appeared in the branches of todays hierarchy trees.
Besides genetics though, Dick has shared so much knowlege & helped advance this hobby way beyond where he found it. If we put it to a vote, very few growers could match Dick Wallace for information sharing.

Wecome Heino to the GPC. As we discussed by email this morning, we appreciate your willingness to serve. Thank you! We will be here for you should the need arise. We are a diverse group with a strong (and mostly orange) common bond.

I have always enjoyed everything about Dick Wallace.......and I've never met him personally. He has the same old world, conservative, common-sense, no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is attitude I do. Dick has been a great off-season bonus to us all. He keeps us entertained.
My best wishes to the GPC's newest committtee member. May God help you!

i have always felt that new blood every several years makes for a much better organization.
just like this pumpkin hobby of ours. where would the hobby be if new people did not partake in the hobby?

Thanks everybody for the kind words and the warm welcome.
Thank you Pap for all you are doing for the community of growers. Your dedication in helping others is unique.
I guess nobody could ever fill shoes that big. Rumour has it some growers in RI even don`t dare to wear any, lol.
Recent years have brought an increasing number of GPC weigh offs all over Europe, which was only possible because of the great work which was done by people like Owen building the bridge over the big pond or the members of the Committee making it easier for smaller sites to join, just to name an expamle.
I feel honored to be able to work together with a great bunch of guys and will do my best to try help promoting the hobby especially here in Europe.

Thanks for recognizing that Brooks, but there is one clarification that needs to be made because pap has been and still is such a great help at all levels.
I meant his selfless service to the GPC, but it is also well known that his selfless service goes well beyound that, and for that matter has been more influential on the AG growing community.
