Are you required to obtain a passport to enter Canada now? It is my understanding that in 2008 you needed a passport just to cross the border. I dont want to wait if I need one. I hear they can take several months to get back.

If you are flying, then yes you need a passport. If you are driving across the border then your birth certificate and photo ID are required.

Thanks North Shore Boyz! That is correct, you only need it if you are flying into Canada. If you are driving you need to prove who you are (Drivers License) and what your citizenship is (birth certificate) a passport just contains both.

You will be required to give up any seeds at the border and they will be put into a distribution lottery run by the federal government to canadian residents only.

LiLPatch, your comment made me laugh sooo hard!! one time on our way to the convention we got the "PULL OFF TO THE RIGHT PLEASE" and they searched EVERYTHING. every single zipper of every bag was opened.
of course they asked what all the "little baggies" were for (most likely not believing us that they were for seeds). i still think it was because we had welty with us. LOL :)
