All along, I've thought numbers have been down on the auction circuit. BUT
1) Conn. Auction 53 lots avg. $121.88 Total $6460.00
2) GPC Auction 51 Lots avg. $127.97 Total $6525.00
3) Ohio Auction 56 lots avg. $121.52 Total $6805.00
4) Pac. N.W 41 lots avg. $84.15 Total $3450.00
5) PGVG auction 113 lots avg. $71.64 Total $8095.00
6) Michigan 29 lots avg $157.76 Total $4575.00
7) Indiana 43 lots avg $85.70 Total $3685.00
8) Illinois 34 lots avg $90.88 Total $3090.00

For a total todate of $42,685.00
Not quite half way, plus the raffles, silent auctions etc,
4 years ago there were 6 auctions. with a total of $28,000.00 Aprox.
This year it could surpass $100,000.00
Numbers are not down, they are way up and so is saturation.

If there were some way to add in the raffles and proven seed sales held by clubs I wonder what the number would be.

Folks keep predicting an end to auction income but as Eddy has pointed out, this isn't the case. Maybe as the clubs obtain income we really are better able to spread the word & cause the sport to grow. That has been the goal after all.

Clubs/auction organizers need to accept that there aren't any more 723's or 1068's to auction off. But that isn't a bad thing. It's just a new thing. It means we'll all need to refine our scouting skills & find those new hot seeds.

If we do surpass $100,000 this year then that means there'll be nearly $100,000 for growers to collect at the 2008 weigh-offs. Can't complain about that!
