Ok, my wife really summed things up in a new way yesterday. I had 4 piles of horse manure in the patch and decided yesterday to go out and get it spread in 38 degree weather and fairly high wind. At first she said I was nuts but then she saw how excited I was to go work in the patch and her next comment (with a sad shake of her head) was..."you look so happy it's like you are heading to Disney World!" Well, my only reply was "my trip is a lot cheaper than yours was a couple years ago". That was to the real Disney World trip!
Somehow I don't think I am the only one this happy to be in the patch on a cold January day!!! Please tell me I'm not!

Makes perfect sense to me! I happily took delivery of 10 yards of manure compost/leafpost yestarday and spent the next hour mixing some into the horse compost that I already have cooking. It wasn't 38 degrees (more like 73) but it sure was a lot more satisfying than any trip to Disneyland!

I sit in the house, I sit in the hot tub on my back deck, I drive in and out of my driveway, all just staring at my 4 truckloads of compost covered in plastic just as happy as I have ever been inany year growing these giants. I used to spread my manure in the fall, till it in, but this year I am composting it in a big pile, turning it on every warm day we get (about once a month) to fall in love with the steamy hot poo smell I get from a shovelful of my new black crap.

Happy? Hell yeah!!! I have actually thought about the spreading of the pile and how awesome the patch will look and how many microbes and extra nutrients that will be dispursed through out my 1200 sq ft of patch. If lovin my manure/compost pile is wrong.... Then I dont wanna be right...
