Since the 998 grew the current world record I'd say its the king of the mountain, for now.

I think the 1068's track record speaks for itself. But like Jason said, only time will tell if the 998 surpasses the 1068.

The 1068, 10 of the top 25 were grown from the 1068 (or more), although this year the 998 came thru with the biggest, next year could be another great year for the 998, maybe surpassing the 1068. All this is just talk,,we need someone to grow both the 998 & the 1068 side by side, I volunteer myself,,I know, pumpkinalcoholic is nothing you want to mess with,,but I'm going to sacrifice myself, now all we need is a 998 & a 1068, and we'll get to the bottom of this.

Is there a fair way to judge which is best??? How many 1068's grown, how many 998's grown??? How many of each were available, how many of each were grown by the top notch growers? I think that no correct answer will ever be available(although someone will crunch the numbers and make one or the other the top of the list)...within a year or so, both will be very limited, if not impossible to obtain, and another seed or 2,3,4 will be talked about as the top seed!?!? JMHO Peace, Wayne

I agree with Wayne above but there is one major point that has not been mentioned yet. The 1068 has been grown for 4 years but the 998 only 2 years. Comparing them for the same time period will give a better answer. JMHO--Cheers

The 1068's are pretty much "gone". But you can get a Bill Bobier remake of the Famous Wallace 1068 at
www.atlanticgiant.com
Bill's 1121 '07 is a remake Bobier845(00) X Knauss898(01)
-just updated with new Joe Richards & Bill Bobier '07 seeds
- Marv Mitchell's great genetics 255 watermelon and Collins Long Gourd seed also.
