I have enough room for two plants this year, I'm just deciding which two I want to grow, for size and the seeds that will come out of them next fall. I'll listen to any comments you have. 1445 Marsh (1231Pukos X 1139Sherwood) 1445 Marsh (1407Wolf X 695Handy) 1443 Palmer 842.5 Polka (1247Handy X 1225Jutras) 792 Wolf (1407Wolf X Self) 715 Wolf (735Pukos X 898Knauss) 738 Glasier (845Bobier X 723Bobier) Thanks

Fog,
My comment would be to research all your seed. I wouldn't plant any first year stuff but try a seed that is proven to put out 1000+ offspring. If you have room for one big plant or two puny ones give it everything you have and more for that one plant and go for the gold. 792 Wolf was a good round fruit, also grew a 1173 Koch I believe.

I think 715 Wolf X 738 Glasier, and reverse, would be good crosses. Or you could cross two of the 1400+ lbers. and hope it does as good as a couple of the Pukos seeds have.

Richard I would cross the 1445 Marsh(1231 X 1139) with the 842.5 Polka. (1247 Handy X 1225 Jutras) and reverse Reasons, 1445 was grown very close to you, weather etc should be reasonably close to yours, humidity etc. Also the 1445 is the 1231 which will, in my books, do as well as the 998, all it needs is soil. The 1139, has and should continue to be heavy, which the 1231 needs. The 842.5 Beauty and the beast. You'll be introducing color and weight, and hopefully both transfer over. I like the 842.5, I think it will be a sleeper, growen little and producing huge. Actually the reverse 842 X 1445, is my favorite Eddy

I think you should plant those two 1068 Wallace seeds you were going to send Brooks.

I don't know if that is sound advice...The slow ones sometimes are the best ones in the end. Imagine if you planted a slow 1068 or 998...would you still give the same advice :)

Not sure either,,I have barely enough room for 1, they told me plant 2 because if it dies you'll loose alot of growing time planting another.

Richard, You could plant two plants, at opposite ends of the patch, and then you'll have insurance, in case of a plant failure(if you'll ultimately be going with one plant). How big of a spot are you planting in?
