The plastic I use for my 4x8 greenhouses only lasts for 1 year. I normally get it at Home Depot, but I know there is some plastics that are made for greenhouses that last 3 or 4 years. I know it's more expensive but I'm getting tired of picking it up out of the yard. Does anyone know of a good source to buy the longer lasting plastic? Thanks Jeff

as the local green house where they get their plastic that covers their hoop and warming houses.

I used to wait until they put the new plastic on and would take the old and use it. no charge. and they were happy to give me some. but that ussually was in the fall. but ask them anyway.

Forget Home Depot if you want the film to last. Their plastic isn't protected against UV light so one season is the max regardless of the thickness. Shannon speaks the truth. Farmtek has UV stabilized plastic - 3 mils for permanent installs.

Thanks for the info. that's the stuff I was looking for. I'm trying to stay ahead of the game this year, only 14 more weeks until planting time.

I have plastic that I'm on my 4th year. It costs a lot up front, but pays for itself in the second or third year.

If you talk to someone at farm tek you can often buy the end cuts for very cheap.... they are used to selling in 100' lengths not in 20'

I use cheaper plastic, I think 6 mil, but I've found that if you can put your hoop houses in a building for storage after you've taken them off, you can get 2 or more seasons out of them. The sun and wind are hard on them!

I thought about storing my greenhouses in the garage, but
that would mean I would have to make my wife park her van outside. Needless to say the greenhouses stay outside. lol

Jeff doesn't look like you're too far from where I am living right now, in Litchfield.
