I did a search here on the subject and saw a lot of varying opinions but most were from a year or so ago. Has anyone tried the preen with purple cap? It's supposed to be 100% corn meal gluten. If anyone here has tried it does it work? Did it harm your plants? I know hoeing is the best but just trying to get ahead of the weeds a little in the beginning.

I had contemplated using it, but the amount needed was too cost prohibitive.

In a nutshell, in order for corn gluten to work as a preventative weed treatment it needs to be put on very thick. Studies done by Professor Tom Cook at Oregon State University found that corn gluten is a much better fertilzer than a weed barrier. For what it's worth.
