I think I read a post here by Pap saying that the Florida state record was broken last year using a 1502 Wallace seed, pollenated with Self and weighing in at an even 700 pounds. ? I've searched this site "LOL" and can find nothing on the topic. Does anyone have the particulars on this grow? When was the seed germinated? When was the female pollenated and when was the pumpkin removed from the vine?
Thank You. Duane

the pumpkin you refered to was grown by alan reynolds ,a snow bird from ct transplanted most of the year in florida
he starts his seeds and sets out around the end of january, pollinates 7 to 8 weeks later, picks around end of may before it gets to hot
thats a close guess id say

I would thank that g is right in asking where the "proof" is, seems like even in the "chad" state records for pumpkins would be sorta/kinda documented.

Very informative. I have a few members who are in Southern zones and not having experience growing AG's in the South am trying to give them a guideline to go by.
Thanks Ben! I'll be refering to your diary.
Was this an estimated weight or was it weighed on some type of certified scale? Is this an actual recorded Florida state record?

Greenhousin,
Glad to hear you look over my diary. We have serious hurdles to overcome here: late season heat (if starting in Feb) and extremely dry air.
