...when i went to the Niagara Falls Seminar in probably '04 i think it was, (or '05, ha ha), Danny Dill was announcing details about the number '5' and how pumpkin seeds that end with a '5' go-on to produce enormous, world-record-sized fruits. so, i opened my big mouth to the whole place and announced that i had noticed that the parents of the 1140 Stelts were the 70 5 Stelts and the 43 5 Grindle, hmmm, both ending in '5'. wow eric that is amazing--no one SAID that but i thought it to myself, lol---when i watched the video a day or two after the seminar was over, i realized to my amazement that i had never mentioned that the SUM of the 705 and the 435 was 1140, and that was supposed to be the really amazing detail i had left out-- (TERRIBLE STAGEFRIGHT I DO HAVE!) i don't know why--all those book reports in HS...gulp...
anyway, i asked Mike Nepereney of the AGGC-- no, that had never happened amongst registered fruit. WOW! what a discovery! if i had only brought it up when it was the year 2000. ahhh, well.
well, anyway #2, there is another pumpkin that i have noticed to be pretty neat-o, the 1278 Palkovich (639 Pugh X 1193 Rose)
now, divide 1278 by 2.
if there are any other pumpkin numbers oddities you can think of, please post them here. i'd like to hear more; pumpkin A=3 times the parent seed weight B; could it have been Brett Hester with two 1028s, years apart from each other?; 2-Holland 1229s... and my own 728.5 Gerry from '01 is right next to Jim Gatewood's 728.5 from '01 as well on the AGGC and both names start with a 'G', etc., etc.
jusssssst something to keep us occupied until Niagara..... PS---even months from now, email me at ekg@bbl-inc.com i would still think this stuff is neat-- Danny Dill did, about the #5....

thanks, guys. been a real busy week so forgot to check back! interesting replies to say the least and yeah, the #1068 is becoming more strangely common. i myself have been noticing that the 1068 Wallace is as hot of a pollinator as the 898 Knauss has been. later---eric g
