i had the bright idea to mail a set of sngpg coffee mugs to all the generous growers who had contributed to our recent sngpg seed sale and club promo.

the first set i sent was a trial and they arrived fine.

soooooooooooooooooo i send the remaining packages and whalaaaaaaaa. most have arrived broken and in pieces.

i should have not put that fragile sign on i guess, that was a dead give away

the disgrunteled postal workers strike again. all but rocky of course.hes our favorite postal worker

That reminds me of being a postal worker in Bosnia, we were not aloud to consume alcohol. It did'nt stop people from having someone they no to send them alcohol, everyday we would get a box that was dripping with alcohol, smelled, filled with broken glass. We ended up having contests, guess what kind of booze was in it, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, before the military police came and opened it.

I do air cargo for a living (same as fed ex, ups, and working for the post office) , we run much of this stuff out of the plane onto a conveyor belt into a canister that is about 6ft x 8ft x 7ft high, most of the time we are in a hurry, and at times we may throw the pieces (boxs)up to maybe 5ft, it might fall out of plane, squashed by another heavier box, that stuff happens all the time, I personnely think its 50-50 that something fragile might break.

((Blushing)) aww thanks PAP!

I get packages through these major mailing facilities to deliver every day that have "fragile" written all over them and they look like the pumpkin that got dropped off a roof on Letterman. I dunno know what they do in the mailing hubs, but they sure could use some guidance in handling porcedures.

That was a very nice guesture on your part Pap. I am sure it is the thought that counts! I even get mail delivered to my house in a bag that states "WE CARE" from time to time. They lay out a major excuse but for somereason "WE CARE" doesnt seem to help, expecially when it is pumpkin seeds smashed into a powder. This happened to Matt Teeter, another local grower who back in 06 got his Pukos seed package only to find his seeds all crushed. (OUCH< THAT WAS A 998 to boot!)

On behalf of the Usps, we sincerely apologize!

That reminds me of the stuff I get from Hollands, no way does Joel pack that stuff for shipment,my guess is that his wife packs it, that stuff is just to neat and bomb proof, lol

(sorry if Im wrong Joel, but your products are just packed to neat, unless your wife taught you how to send stuff?, Bahaha!)

The NFL rejected punters that couldn't make a 50 yarder in the U.S. Post Office are quickly hired by U.P.S. They have broken many things that arrived at my house.

LOL Sherry!! Mine looked the same, I got a kick out of it when I received mine, as soon as I seen who sent them it made me laugh even harder, If you read the book ''Back Yard Giants'' you would know who sent them mugs like that! Who sends two mugs in a bubble touching together without anything protecting them inside?,,,,,, PAP DOES! bHAHAHA

I love ya Pap! You crack me up, and the book back yard Giants even kills me more, every time they write about you in that book it gets me laughing! I cant wait to meet ya after all these years for the first time! See ya in Niagara!

I worked for U.P.S for years and the kisss of death is putting fragile on the box or especially do not drop. General guidelines are the package should least be able to be dropped from a skyscraper and survive a wrestling match with a pissed of Gorilla. Behind the scenes at postal facilities and U.P.S is a whole other world. Yep Pap never put fragile on a box it is the kiss of death.

Actually Nick I work for a shipping company and Fedex loses more packages then U.P.S but they usually do arrive in better shape. Ya just got to pack the boxes really good...ya can never get enough protection..they mean welll they just have to deal with so much volume its tough. I had the post office set a box for me on my deck well on my deck I have two bulldogss lets just say the contents of the package didnt arrive to well.

id like to have been there when they were thrown around so i could punch the bastards in the nose.
theres no reason for that other than not caring. the cups were taped together ,wrapped in plastic and also placed in a bubble that wrapped around a second time on half the package.
us postal service sucks.
its not for the money as much as it them not getting there cups in one piece

bill if i think of it ill bring you another cup sunday

Thats the part that sucks Pap the moneys usually not the issue but getting the package there in one peice is. I ship a bunch of stuff out for friends e-bay stuff and I wrap it and protect it and still it ends up broken and these are peices that really are vintage and that money cant replace. One time I shipped a freinds deceased Aunts Urn through U.P.S talking about being nervous I never packed a box so well..Thank God they didnt bust that package. When I worked at U.P.S I can actually say I didnt throw stuff around because I know I would want my boxes to be tooken care off. Its a shame some people just dont take pride in their work anymore.

Hey, Dick for what it's worth. My 2 mugs came through just fine (as far as I could tell) However the big hole in the top isn't very conducive to driving with a full mug! I'll check for cracks later.

thanks SNGPG!

By the way, tell Ron he really owes me! He knows why. lol

UPS does the same thing. Marking a box fragile is a death warrant.

Rich B, It seems like a lifetime ago.

Bosnia and Serbia are very pretty places that get little notice. Hard to believe 10 yrs ago they were at war. (very bad) now they have cell phones, and other modern day things.
villages, less than 1000 people 90percent related in some way. Horse drawn vehicles are still in use. so is wood for heat.
