Is there a record for the most pumpkins on one plant? Because last season I grew a plant and got 27 pumpkins off of it!

It is a quality not quantity thing. Just think if you would have kept it to just one pumpkin.

In 2005 I let one plant go wild and it set 12 pumpkins. I didn't get any official weights, but I am sure tht everyone was over 200#. Seed was a 633.5 McWilliams 04 (802 Carlson X 700-900# from Dill)

The current SC State Record of 737 which was grown in 2006 was set on a "genetics plant" 827 Holland'92 which grew a total of 10 controlled crosses. The 2nd largest fruit was an estimated 400lbs with the smallest being an estimated 200lbs. I'm sure those numbers are no record but this plant was treated like a "genetics plant" and the fruit on the main out performed any other fruit ever grown in the state while still pumping out 9 others! That plant was seriously strong!
On a side note, a plant grown from that State Record fruit was used as the pollinator on last year's 609 Fawcett '07 "genetics plant" (a 1450 Wallace), the strongest plant of that year for me. Its genetics look like this: 1450 Wallace(1068 Wallace x sib) X 737 Fawcett(827 Holland x self). Ponder that cross, BF

I believe that Pierre Sluzareck grew 2 (1000 lbs. +) pumpkins off of John Mackinnon's 1082 back 2005.
In fact one of those, the Sluzareck 1187 (MacKinnon 1082 x 895 Hester) will be offered as part of lot # 22 in Sunday's BP auction.

Oh, they weren't AG's! They were the miniature ones, but they were all good quality.

In 2001 I let my plant go wild and the total weight of the pumpkins was 3524 lbs. The two largest pumpkins were 756 lbs and 355 lbs. Here’s a pic of them: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=10254
In the future I will make another try just to see how much I can get out of one plant.
