Hi dale I will be interested to hear how the plants react to the treatment with wiltnot. I am not aware of any growers who have tried anything like that in the US. I am not sure we have access to Wiltnot or Envy. Growers in the southern US would certainly benefit from something like that.
A common one that I have used here in the Northeast for ornamental evergreens is Wilt pruf. It is mostly used to prevent winter damage on foliage. I am not sure if it can be used for herbaceous plants in summer.
Your climate is very extreme, I am sure any advantage you can come up with will help. Have you ever tried misting the foliage through the heat of the day? Another option which I have heard is to use a product called 'Surround' it may have a different name in Australia. It is a white powder that is sprayed on the leaves it helps reduce heat damage and plant stress.

You may also gain some insecticidal properties from the surround, organic fruit growers use it to grow their apples. You do have to reapply after a rainfall.
