Yes, I will be there. I am expecting around 20 pumpkins to show. prize money will be probably the top three. My best pumpkin I cut last week will hope to make it too. The current state record holder might weigh up north. He is hoping for 800lbs. His wife is planning to show up with a 600+ George J.

glad to hear there will be some others from bigpumpkins.com it should be fun. i am bringing my 2 and a friend is bringing his 2. they probably only allow one pumpkin entry per person, but i want to get both officially weighed. my friend has maybe a 400 lber. glad to hear the 600+ will be there too. sounds like my dreams for the illinois record this year will be surpassed by the current record holder. that's cool with me, something to shoot for next year. takes the pressure off of coming in short of the 679. see you both at the weigh off, and i hope all our pumpkins stay in tact by then.

p.s. thinking of throwing out the idea to the other growers at the weigh off of forming an illinois pumpkin growers association and eventually getting a gpc event in illinois.

Update on time to arrive with pumpkins: 8-10am Weigh-off to start around 12 noon. prize money 1st= $400 2nd $100+ 5 gallon pail of Neptunes harvest 3rd=$100 Plaques for 1st-3rd place. TWO pumpkins per family allowed to weigh for prizes. NO squash 100% green can compete for prizes. Sorry. I was thinking a fee for weighing, then have a drawing at the end for all the growers who weighed. Lets also think about ways to get more sponsors for more dollars next year. I will be on TV channel 9 WGN Thursday 7-9am talking about pumpkins.
