Many marrows from the UK were open pollinated in the past. I think more growers these days pay a bit more attention, but the genetics to turn orange are still in some (older) seeds for them. To my knowledge all the major shows will disqualify a marrow which is not whitish yellow or (largely) green, with or without stripes.
