Blankets work for frost, but plants are not homeothermic so the blankets need a heat source to retain the temps. As of now, it's like putting a blanket on a reptile (ectotherms) and your plants will be ground temp.

Looks like I'm up a creek. Yes I do Maurice I have two. One is hopefully sprouting in case my current ones don't make it. I read that pumpkins may never recover from cold stress and although I'm not sure how to tell if they will recover or not, I thought backups for warmer temps might be prudent.

It's true the growth may stall. But I have a hunch that any damage from cold stress is really a type of nutrient failure. I'd speculate that the recovery can either be slow or immediate depending on the plants storage of certain nutrients. No reason to despair. Lots of room to learn what works and what doesn't. Imho.
