Is this a genetic issue and does it present issues to a grow? Thanks all.

Here's something for now at least that was found by hitting the
'Site Search' with
double vines
or
double vine
at the Home Page top left or at your top right right now -
I wish I had noticed the second one years ago!

My own experience with a DOUBLE vine (two distinct vine channels,
obviously separable - not a RIBBON vine (one distinct channel,
obviously not separable)
...was that after about 6 feet long and doubling, I cut off the shorter/weaker/flipped a quarter, etc. or less-position-advantaged one
as sealed up as possible - maybe even leaving it with one leaf or something, just not the growing tip of it; no entry for varmints - and the rest of the season it grew as normal and had a beautiful 500-pounder on it.

Good Luck and others may chime in for you---eric g

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I grew a double vine plant out and out of curiosity I let both vines grow but just as easily I think Icould have lopped one off and had a more or less normal plant.

But I do wonder, what's the largest pumpkin ever grown on a plant which was trained out of a double vine situation? Most get culled out, but it shouldn't be that big a hiccup to prune it back into being a good plant.

It was this one, lol:
"had a beautiful 500-pounder on it."
I'll literally see if I can find a pic of it later -
Sparked me to grow my 100 seed the next 2 years
(grew that 500#; no more doubly-vined plants) and now that seed no longer sprouts - Awwww!!! eg
